ISSUE: A recent software update for Microsoft Office on Mac computers can prevent Outlook from working properly. If your Mac is running macOS High Sierra and you install update 16.12 for Outlook 2016, then Outlook will repeatedly (every 30 seconds or so) prompt for your email password.

Microsoft Office support for macOS 10.13 High Sierra - Office Support. As of October 10th, Office 2011 will no longer be supported. I, recently, bit the bullet and upgraded to Office 2016 in preparation for High Sierra. For Office 2016, you must be running version 15.35 or higher to be compatible with High Sierra (15.38 is the current release). I was using Open Office up until recently and links from our newsletter to bookmarks in the PDF has been working without problem. Last friday I tried to make the same with MS Office 2016 Word. 15.41 (171205) on Mac OS 10.13.2 (17C88) High Sierra but I couldn't get it to work. I've had no problems with High Sierra and Office for Mac 2016. Also see the following from Microsoft Office support for macOS 10.13 High Sierra - Office Support. As of September 25, 2017, macOS 10.13 High Sierra is publically available for all Mac users to install. Office 2016 for Mac is fully supported on High Sierra.

RESOLUTION:

Since individual updates for Office on Mac cannot be uninstalled, the workaround for affected systems entails backing up certain files*, removing Microsoft Office, then reinstalling Office. Remember that you can still always access email via the Outlook Web App, https://owa.eku.edu.
